Morning visit. 7 Spoonbill, 15 LRP's, 1 Ruff. a few Black-tailed Godwit, 16 Redshank, 1 Spotted Redshank and 2 Green Sand. Some Sandwich and Common Terns new in. |

Geoff That is a site record for LRP. Apparently a couple of the spoonbills are colour-ringed so we should be able to determine whether they are the same birds that were here previously, returning from Norfolk. Couldnt quite see them from the office today ! Little egrets have been building up - 19 reported a couple of days ago. Lots of juv warblers and tits in the dunes now and a goldcrest new in. Looks like it could be a better autumn for this species already! Two humming-bird hawk-moths in the East Dunes today. (Records per JPS and TB - thanks) Kev |

Hi Kev, LRP's seem to have had a good breeding season this year, many juvs around at present and I see that at least one is still sitting at Gib. |

The colour ringed Spoonbills are the same birds as before. |

The LRP sitting is also the first confirmed breeding record for TF55 in the current Atlas. It takes the total of confirmed breeding species for the square to 50: 44% of the species at Gib remain to be confirmed as breeding so if anyone visiting sees fledged young, adults carrying food for young or occupied nests it would be great if you could submit roving records via the BTO Atlas website for them and submit the breeding evidence code too. |

I assume that management at Gibraltar Point NR has annual records of all breeding birds on the reserve so wouldn't it be much easier if these records were submitted directly to the BTO Atlas to save Phil Espin and other BTO coordinators from chasing people up. The same applies to the RSPB Frampton Marsh reserve in TF33 where Lapwing and many other species have still not been confirmed as breeding. On a different note, I am just off for a week's holiday in Cornwall. I have just checked the 10 km square where I will be staying (SW87) and it has only 9 species as confirmed breeders so far! The whole of Cornwall appears grossly under-recorded, it certainly puts Lincolnshire in a better light. Regards Hugh Dorrington |

Have added some to TF33 now; i do add records for Freiston TF34 and TF44, Freiston shore being bisected into these sectors. TF44 may look poor but it is mostly sea, cheers Paul |

Hugh Gib area data has not been fully input yet - Phil is aware and currenty trying to assist with registration problems. However, that should not deter from encouraging anyone else to submit breeding and roving info for the square. Kev PS finally managed to see the 7 spoonbills this morning - right in front of Jacksons Hide. |
