Post subject:  Bits and bobs via BTO Atlas Surveys

Busy with BTO work over the last week. Highlights:

22 June Metheringham Delph - 3 Sedge Warbler, 3 Reed Warbler (both feeding young, 1 of the Reed Warblers in a rape field!), pair Tufted Duck, 1 Grey Partridge.

23 June Metheringham Airfield/Blankney Wood - 2 Buzzard, 1 Stock Dove, Lesser Whitethroat singing.

24 June Epworth/ Belton - Little Grebe with young, 1 Turtle Dove, 9 Tree Sparrows, Meadow Pipit feeding young, 1 Corn Bunting, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, Pair Buzzard.

26 June Laughton Wood/Scotton Common - 2 Spotted Flys (1 near Bucknell Farm, 1 on Scotton Common) 41 Lapwing at Scotton including 12 birds fledged this year, pair Lesser Whitethroat at Scotton. Whilst walking along the footpath alongside Bucknell Farm, I also saw a polecat! I reported this sighting to the local LWT warden who suggested that this may have escaped from captivity as this area is regularly used by people with ferrets and polecats. A nice sighting, none the less!

Cheers,

David Cohen
