NOTE : I have read Andrew's guidelines (15 Mar 10) on publishing records of Red Kite in LINCS between March and July and this record seems perfectly permissible.
Alerted this morning (Tue) by mobile 'phone by my wife walking the dog over the fields between Bracebridge Heath and Branston, I was able to watch (from the house and garden) a wandering Red Kite circling in the clear blue sky for over 5 minutes, twisting and manoeuvring above Canwick Manor Farm (TF993678) c 300-400 m from our house.
The local Buzzard came up to investigate but it did not mob the Kite.
Certainly a wandering bird from elsewhere in LINCS or beyond and the first I've seen in the BBH area since moving here in Feb 2002.
The record has already been sent to the County Recorder.
Regards,
Freddy
