Hi Freddy (and others)

Just to set to record straight, as far as I can be sure there are NO Tree Pipits at Greetwell Hollow. What folk are observing are Meadow Pipits which have a significantly different song and calls from those of Tree Pipits. Just because a displaying male starts and/or finishes his display flight from a small bush or shrub does not make it a Tree Pipit! I have been to Greetwell twice this year and all I can hear and see are Meadow Pipits. If you want to see/hear Tree Pipits in Lincs try Laughton Forest, Scotton Common or Crowle Moor, and you will be amazed at how different they sound!

I'm only mentioning this because a lot of people are going to Greetwell and reporting Tree Pipits, based on some old reports, to which I have no idea how valid they are (before I moved to Lincoln).

Hope this helps.

Regards

Grahame

I agree with the last two postings.

Each time I go I only see Meadow Pipits despite reports of Tree Pipits. As Grahame says Meadow Pipits will start and finish song flights from bushes but I have never heard Tree Pipit song in Greetwell hollow.

Graham,
Linwood Warren and Walesby Moor are two other current Tree Pipit sites for those interested.

Funny thing is.....the first year I went to Greetwell Hollow, I wasn't 100% convinced but I was informed that they were definitely Tree Pipits. Now we know better.
Thanks for the correct gen.

Regards,

Freddy
