3 Marsh Harrier thru, 2 possibly 3 Gropper in the lock gates area early morning, 5 Common Sandpiper, 10 Whimbrel, 2 Greenshank, 2 Cuckoo, 2 Wheatear, a few hirundines and Yellow Wagtail going thru, a few Whitethroat around, *heard secondhand the shrike was seen in the morning but did'nt see it myself.

Excuse my extreme ignorance but what is a "Gropper"?

Birder talk for Grasshopper Warbler,just a shortened version such as Mipit for Meadow Pipit.
