Geoff Trinder et al found Whisbys first Nightingale of the year today in the south west corner of Teal Lake. It was singing (but not showing) at around 11.45am and I heard it at around 5.45pm. This is a early record/arrival (five year mean 2005 to 2009 = 13th April), but is not the earliest record for Whisby, which was found by Pete Haywood on the 4th April 2005. Regards Grahame |

One reported singing intermittently at Gib on 3rd April - this would be our earliet ever (previous earliest 10th April). What is the earliest date for Lincs ? Cheers Kev |

Kev I asked the County Recorder in 2005 if Pete Haywoods 4th April bird at Whisby was potentially the earliest ever Lincs record, and never got an answer.................................... I would suspect (but have no real idea) that your 3rd April record for this year could just be a record breaker for the county, unless someone out there knows different. Cheers Grahame |

According to SoBiL, extreme dates (up to 1995) are 10 April - Sep 23rd. |
