A brief visit to both sites:

Several calling green woodpeckers at KM, also singing chiffchaffs (first of the year for me).

More chiffchaffs at Kirkby pits, and 1 avocet, plus pochard and shelduck.

Also a lifer! Sir Peter Tapsell and wife at the Ebrington Arms! (complaining that "everything is going up except the country, which is going down".)

Cheers

Geoff

Late morning visits to both sites added female Marsh Harrier, 4 Buzzards and 2 Sparrowhawks at Kirkby Moor. Avocets increased to three at Kirkby Pits with 3 Buzzards, 2 Oystercatchers and 2 Egyptian Geese.

Cheers,

David Cohen.
