Post subject:  Swanpool/Boultham mere 01/03.

A good morning on the patch in lovely weather:-
7 Shoveler (5m 2f).
1 male Wigeon.
2 Goosander (1m 1f).
4 Buzzards, 2 soaring & displaying.
2 Sparrowhawks.
2 Kestrels.
2 Water Rails calling.
29 Lapwings over in 4 small flocks.
1 Curlew, heard calling and then seen to fly low over mere and off to W. This is a scarce bird on the patch and the first I have seen for 11 years.
1 Snipe flushed from stubble field.
1 Kingfisher.
1 Green Woodpecker.
1 Great Spotted Woodpecker.
15 Pied Wagtails on flooded grass field.
2 Song Thrushes, 1 singing.
2 very vocal Tree Sparrows, in separate locations.
1 Linnet.
1 singing Reed Bunting.
3 Yellowhammers.
