Couple of hours around Deeping Lakes from 10.30 to 12.30. Upwards of 30 goldeneye on the main lake with pochard, tufted and a pair of teal, and 18 cormorant on the car park lake. My wife wandered off to take photographs of the teasels in the new woodland area and flushed something that her description sounded to us very like a woodcock, and we told her it's not likely, rarely seen etc. On leaving the site later we chatted to two of the guys working on the reserve and they'd flushed a woodcock tooabout an hour earlier, so we assume my wife got it right. Always gratifying when someone out with you for the walk sees something you don't, isn't it...... Pair of goosander on the Welland on the road back to Spalding too. We all actually saw those.....
