We set off for Owlet Plantation hoping to see the Brambling and arrived early afternoon. As it turned out we saw nothing except a Sprawk flying a foot above the road. The place was devoid of birds but loads of people and dogs, not forgetting the FC workers making a lot of noise

so I suppose the birds had gone elsewhere. We had a good look for the feeding station but we were obviously looking in the wrong place, even though I was given instructions as to it's whereabouts. Might be an idea to visit on a weekend and early to beat the crowd
We had a good think as to where we may find some birds and decided on Keb Wood, and as it turned out it was an excellent choice for one species in particular, here are our sightings:
Redpoll - 131
Chaffinch - 22
Siskin - 3
Jay - 1
Kestrel - 1
Blackbird - 2

John
