Yes it's true! And on RSPB garden birdwatch day toboot! We had put some beef trimmings and fat on one of the tables (the open one) earlier this morning which immediately attracted 4 starlings and 3 jackdaws. Then at about 12.20 a Common Buzzard flew past the window where I was sat at the computer and I turned just in time to see, out of the corner of my eye, it take a piece of beef in its talons and in one movement fly off, just clearing the hedge and over the field behind it. We often see Buzzards soaring over the garden (usually in summer) and sometimes other raptors including on one ocassion a kite but this was the first record of one actually in the garden. Ian |

Great record Ian,and i thought i was doing well with my 2 Tree Sparrows and male Yellowhammer.Reminds me of one of my mates whose brother lives in Oxfordshire and he gets Red Kites doing the same thing as your Buzzard, now that would be special wouldn't it ![]() Regards Steve. |
