A grey phalarope found at the northern boundary of the reserve early morning was relocated at the mouth of Greenshanks Creek, where it was mostly on the beach amongst several hundred waders and gulls. Close views of the phalarope were not obtained due to the likelihood of flushing the feeding flock.

Also, remarkably, the Dartford warbler, having survived the worst weather for decades, was still in the outer dune scrub at the north boundary just in from the large yellow bouy.

Good numbers of filedfare and starlings about but v few woodcock now.

Cheers

Kev

Yes, but anyone looking for the Dartford is advised to approach the reserve boundary from the North - that is - walk down the beach from the South Parade Car Park. This is simpler and safer than trying to describe how to negotiate crossing saltmarsh creeks. It is a long walk but plenty to see along that stretch of coast - long tailed duck also reported this afternoon.

Cheers

Kev
