At Covenham this morning:-
1 Great Northern Diver down W side of reservoir. At 09:00 this bird took off, circled the reservoir twice gaining height, and then flew off in the direction of the coast and was lost to view. When we got back to the NW corner there was a Great Northern Diver there. We do not know if this was another bird or the original one which had flown back in? Keith Robinson says it was in that area at 09:30 but had not been when we were there at 08:30.
Also present were 1 male Red-crested Pochard, 2 male Scaup, c100 Goldeneye, 10 Goosanders (Keith had seen 13) and 2 Redshank.

With Rick Bennett.
