Main scrapes still all frozen over but some life in the reed beds mainly due to the flowing inlets. Highlight was a Water Rail that appeared on the ice close to the fence beyond the five bar gate only 3m from me and ran along the edge of the reeds for nearly 30m followed by me trying to take photos on the run. Got a few but record only as I didn't have time to adjust all the settings for a fast moving target!

Greylag 42 over - another birder told me c500 had been feeding on the beet field before being disturbed by a walker with dog!
Teal 15
Mallard 8
Wigeon many heard
Snipe 4 over
Water Rail 2 seen several others heard
Goldfinch c15
Bullfinch 2
Reed Bunting 3
Stonechat 1 reported by another birder
Fieldfare 7
BH Gull c40
Common gull reported by another birder
Grey wagtail 2
Plenty of Great, blue, longtail tit

Yesterday in the main shop at Downtown Garden centre at Gonerby - 2 dunnock and a robin singing furiously atop a large mirror. Obviously been there a fair few days owing to the amount of guano streaked down the mirror!

Alex
It's certainly a lot more than I've ever seen there. The other birder, name not known, told me about the number put up which had happened before I'd arrived. I saw the 42 which appeared to be part of a larger flock as they returned in small groups just before I left. The rest is conjecture.
