Woodcocks have been in good numbers for the last two weeks or so but the influx seems to have intensified over the last couple of days - a count of over 60 yesterday and over 70 today. Normally, birds are encountered when flushed form areas of scrub during the day and birds fly out to feed in damper areas at dusk - but currently the birds are remaining in the damp grassland areas during the day too. I saw 24 in about an acre yesterday.

Also, an Iceland Gull on the beach yesterday (per JP Shaughnessy)

Hi Kev

Amazing numbers of Woodcock, even around Lincoln at the moment, there are Woodcock everywhere. Most places I go since Christmas I have seen at least one, Whisby, Thurlby and Bardney Pits. That includes in the city as well, with one over my garden, in the Hykeham Road area and one sat in the horse fields near Boultham Park in the dark last Friday night, only showing up because of the snow!

I have also taken calls from three local people about woodcocks on their garden lawns in the Skeg area over the last few days - there has been one showing well in my garden too - amazing opportunity to watch it feeding and get a few shots (camera !)

Cheers

Kev
