5 lapland buntings, 1 hen harrier f, 1 merlin f, and 266 cormorant, i think the highest count for the area over the past 25 years ?, also 6 red throat divers. John. |

Hi What is it about this area of Lincolnshire that attracts so many Cormorants. ? The numbers at Covenham have topped 250 during the last month. Really amazes me that so many can be in such a small area. Malcolm. |

It is quite interesting that, in a similar vein, Besthorpe in Notts (almost in Lincs) which is quite a small reserve has a large cormorant nesting colony and hosts large numbers roosting in the tree tops in winter. It is close to the Trent which may have a bearing. David |
