Back to the frozen North from a few days in Wiltshire. Surprised a wren in the hide, perhaps from one of the two broods that hatched in there last summer. Don't blame it, the hide is full of spiders!

Both scrapes visble from the hide were frozen over (temp -4C) so very little showing. A walk up to the reed bed was a little more productive but only just - more flying around than on the ground:

Mallard 11
Teal 7
Curlew 2
Golden plover 22
Lapwing c60
Snipe 5
Water Rail 2 heard
BH Gull c80
LBB Gull 2 1st winter
Starling 7
Blackbird 9
Redwing 8
Fieldfare c250
Wren 6
Great Tit 6
Blue tit 5
Chaffinch 13
Reed Bunting 2
Grey Wagtail 2
