apparently this bird was first seen on Sunday! it is according to the last report the second latest ever for Lincs with one on November 19th year unknown --taking lots of flat worms from the estuarine goo and seeming very fit |

Linda & I couldn't find it yesterday and it hadn't been sighted at all this morning. I got there at about 12.30 today and sat down on the bench beside a rather despondent Andy Sharpe, and within about three minutes the phalarope appeared in front of us! After about 10 minutes it flew out along the Humber mud, which left me rather concerned as I had put news out on the information service, as well as alerting several friends directly, that it was showing well. I gather from John Harriman and Steve Routledge that it flew back into to the best viewing area later, but in can be missing for very long periods. Roy |

Hi Rob, There was an adult male at the Fitties on June 5th this year that we both saw. Is this the one you mean - or did you see another in 2008? Roy |

I got to Chowder at about 3.00 pm yesterday and found the bird straight away,it was at very close range, about ten feet away at times! and i watched it as it worked it's way in and out of the rushes at the side of the area next to the bench which Roy mentioned picking flatworms and hydrobia from the mud surface,a cracking little bird. ![]() Regards Steve. |

I arrived at the bench at Chowder Ness at 11.00 this morning (Mon). The Phalarope showed very well in front of us in dry but breezy conditions from 11.20 for c 20 minutes until something/someone spooked it and it flew behind the extensive reedbed there. A very smart bird with fine markings. (8/10 birders there). Regards, Freddy |

Still there this morning, but not always visible as it fed in the fringe of the reeds. Cheers. Rick |
