Post subject:  colour ringed Little Egret

Little Egrets at Alkborough get quite a good look so colour ringed birds tend to get picked up when present; there have been 4-5 birds this year but reading the inscriptions is particularly tricky; one Orange left B and Green right N ringed as a juv at Terrington in June 2009 stayed from September 8th to October 3rd when there were still 15 birds present from an autumn peak of 20 but there are now just two birds so it was surprising to see that one adult today was ringed Orange left U and Yellow right N -- more surprising was the fact that this bird was seen at the same location on March 17th 2009 but not since; it was also ringed at Terrington in June 2008
