Brian, I was interesting to see you are still getting juvenile Bullfinches - we are catching good numbers at the moment in the Market Rasen area and they have all completed their post juvenile moult and are indistinguishable from 2nd year+ birds!

Stuart.
At least 2 still without caps. I was stood quite well back watching them come up and perch together in the top of an ash tree. It was surprising that it was a steady stream coming up through the brambles and scrub then flitting off and the stream continuing. I normally get the odd one most years around this time as they seem to disperse for easier feeding and am usually left with about 6 that are easy to find.
Hope this helps.
Cheer's
Brian.

Thanks for that, Brian - BTO Nest Recorders have suggested it's been a prolonged breeding season for several species including finches - obvious proof at Greetwell Hollow.

Mike.
Coming in on the A158 from wragby to lincoln to the first roundabout on the bypass straight on past 1 set of traffic lights, into left hand lane for the filter on to outer circle rd, left at the next set of traffic lights go past the first entrance to the car park for the carlton centre and go next left into the small carpark. Come out of the car park, cross the road and walk back towards the traffic lights you will see the sign and the metal 5bar gate. I suggested the small car park as it is a lot easier to get in and out if it is busy.
I am the voluntary reserve manager for the Lincs trust.
All the best.
pm me if you want anymore info.
Brian.
