Just popped down (within my lunchtime!) to see good views of a drk Ring necked Duck - viewable from the hide, South side of the island / hide area. Gary found it and rang me so I rang Alex Parker! Will blog resonable images later - thanks Gary! |

The last drake ring-necked duck at Boultham Mere on the 7th Jan 2009 was a one day stayer! Hard to say if this one will stick, some do, some don't! Good luck Andrew |

As Andrew says, some of these stay all winter, then return in consecutive winters for years to come. Others are gone the next day. However, if you don't go, you definitely wont see it! |

Thanks for getting the news out early John. Once the mist cleared the bird showed very well this morning. It is associating with Tufties and on one occasion displayed to a female. I spent quite a while scanning all the gulls with my 'scope. There are so many commuting from the tip that it would be surprising if something rare was not amongst them over the next few months, but couldn't even see a Med. Roy |
