Reported by David Griffith Species Information: Glossy Ibis Location Information: Deeping Lakes Nature Reserve Bird Information: Hi I thought you might be interested to know that a Glossy Ibis was seen flying over Deeping Lakes Nature Reserve on Tuesday 13th Oct at around 11am. It was observed by Lincs WT work party. It was observed flying from east to west over the reserve(headed towards Deeping St James/Maxey where it has been seen for over a week) and may have been on the lagoon near the carpark on the reserve as it seemed to rise up from that location but wasn't observed on the ground. |

This bird has been flying into the Maxey Pit to the SW of the Deepings, each day last week at around 3-4pm Otherwise it's whereabouts is unknown, so this above record may give a clue? Information via Kevin DuRose. David Jenkins |

If it's anything like the 1st winter glossy that we had near Covenham about three weeks ago, find a really smelly coffee coloured 'pool' in a farmyard where silage has been running into it and that's where this one loved to go, pool, only about 20 ft across max was stuffed with worms. It was right in the middle of the farmyard, wasn't bothered about tractors at all. We were all looking around the area in the dykes etc where the nice clean water was ! ![]() |

Gib bird came in off sea at north end and flew low to the south. The observer involved does not have a mobile phone so by the time we got to know about it, it was difficult to know where to look - Ed Mackrill and Tim Bagworth checked some of the more obvious locations but no luck. It could have passed stright through or could still be lurking - eitherway, this is a well sought after Gib bird - the only previous record in May 1976. Kev |
