Both these sites are my local patches, and from mid Aug onwards it's not unusual to see Yellow legged Gull, as well as the usual collection of large gulls ( not so good for small gulls )

My last 8 visits has recorded YLG at Thurlby.

I didn't visit the roosts this weekend as I took timeout to twitch the Brown Shrike!

What do you mean by Thurlby pit's???? (Grid ref etc.)

I would like to know as it is on my site list (officially) and can have access to visit as a Bird Control Operative, for the Ministry of Defence ( or whatever this week!!! ).

From my spies, I hear there are issues, that are in the Undergrowth that are waiting to be resolved.

Access is via the 5 bar gate, opposite the entrance to the Swinderby old airfield, there is parking here also, however sometimes difficult when there are events within the airfield.

I have never had any problems at this site, which is generally used by members of the public, dog walkers and the like, but not birders! I rarely see another person, never mind a birder, so I would welcome any help on those cold winter gull roosts!
It can be very rewarding... Up to 6 wintering Med Gulls, YLG, and Caspian Gull ( on 5 occasions )
Whitewinged gulls appear usually after Christmas.

So hopefully see you all there?
