A mass arrival of redwings today with large flocks just dropping out of the sky mostly down onto the west dunes and then birds dispersing off south and west. I didnt start recording until 0800 and then patchily through til early afternoon when the movement diminished. I got the impression that the majority of birds had cleared off by late afternoon. Total 7400 redwing, 400 blackbirds, 200 song thrush, 30 brambling and 18 ring ouzel.....more ring ouzels than goldcrests ! Many of the ouzels picked up on the starling like flight call that some observers may not be alert to.

Also a woodlark south.

Cheers

Kev

Flock of around 50 birds around Deeping Lakes today which we thought were redwing - feel a little safer with the ID having read your news!
