Post subject:  Far Ings NR 9/10/09

Chilly and mainly overcast (typically the last couple of days have been sunny when I couldnt get out! :evil:

Pleasant visit though - Chowder Ness and west of reserve.

2 Marsh Harrier
2 Kestrel ( in the air together, both taken on by a Carrion Crow)
1 Sparrowhawk
16 Ringed Plover
8 Black Tail Godwits (with a single Golden Plover)
12 Dunlin
5 Pied Wagtail
Usual Shelduck/Curlew/Redshank
2 Wigeon
3 Mute Swan
5 Cormorant ( had great view of one making all the fish jump out of water near Ness Hide, then a large eel lunged out of the water and landed on the mud patch in front of the hide. It got away!)
5 Wren
4 Robin
4 Dunnock
3 Meadow Pipit
8 Goldfinch
1 Song Thrush
c20 Gadwall
15 Shoveller
2 Little Grebe
1 GC Grebe
3 Carrion Crow
1 Water Rail
2 Bullfinch ( looking very tatty)
3 Yellowhammer

Also one Grey Squirrel digging up nuts and a nice 5 min visit by a Weasel at side of Ness Hide. 2 Migrant Hawker also observed
