Post subject:  Far Ings NNR 9/9/09

What a thoroughly enjoyable morning there today 5.15am-1pm( before, during and after predator survey) The last few weeks when I have had time to visit the weather has been dreadful and not much to see - today the reserve was full of life - with the warm sunshine and birdsong it felt like Spring had returned!

1 Spotted Flycatcher - showing really well and observed on and off for an hour - never tire of watching them :D

Apparent movement of Warblers inc

12 Chiffchaff - 6 seen together in one bush, 3 very vocal individuals
5 Blackcap
3 Willow Warbler
2 Sedge warbler
2 Whitethroat
2 Lesser Whitethroat

2 Willow Tit - both very vocal + usual Tit sp.
4 Carrion Crow
c50 Greylags
8 Cormorant
1 Kingfisher
12 Gadwall
4 Shoveller
Numerous Wren, Robin and Blackbirds
1 Little Grebe
1 GC Grebe
2 Reed Bunting
1 Curlew over
2 Bearded Tit - very vocal
1 Sparrowhawk (great views)
2 Water Rail

plus one young Fox and a Grey Squirrel
