Highlight of a morning on my local patch was an adult Osprey, this was first seen over the mere at 09:15 when it caught a small fish, possibly roach, and flew onto a ploughed field to the west to eat its catch. At 10:20 it was back over the mere where it spent 10 minutes fishing, unsuccessfully, before flying off west. (This is the 3rd record of Osprey at the mere in the last 12 days. The first, a juv, on 28th Aug and the 2nd last Saturday, do not know its age).

Also recorded this morning:-
2 Teal
1 Sparrowhawk
2 Common Buzzards
2 Kestrels
2 Water Rails heard
3 adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls S
1 Swift S
1 Kingfisher
1 Green Woodpecker
c140 hirundines, mainly House Martins, feeding high over the mere.
