Last night, at a Grainthorpe farmyard the little population of 25 swallows were all agitated on the wires, today they have all gone, no doubt taken advantage of the high pressure system at the moment. |

note from Birdguides 11:33 08/09/09 Swallow E Yorks Spurn 11:10 21,000 south with 6,500 House Martins and 800 Sand Martins there were also 12:45 08/09/09 Swallow E Yorks Sunk Island 5,600 and 450 House Martins through in 4 hrs and 380 Teal along the Humber I was at Alkborough from 05:30 this morning and there was a constant stream of Swallows with lesser numbers of Sand Martins heading WSW to SW up the escarpment and then down the Trent; being busy with a survey I didn't get a proper count but there were at least 500 Swallows and 50 Sand Martins; much smaller numbers than above of course but birds had by then one assumes spread over a wider area as they moved south. |

Looks like they all caught the same 'bus'. Nice to see it ties in. |
