Hi a long walk this afternoon/evening 15.00 - 19.45hrs (nearly dark) produced the following:-

1 King Eider - Fantastic views from cut end hide. It was closer than I was expected being only between 20-50yds off shore, It was just swimming from left to right and back again drifting in and out between 20-50yds off shore.

1 Marsh Harrier - seen on 3 seperate occasions (could have been 3 birds but I think it was the same one)
3 Brent goose - 1 on the wetland trail, 2 on the reservoir
1 Curlew Sandpiper - on the trail
12 Wheatear - on the trail again, could have been more
8 Yellow Wagtails - on the trail again
60+ Black tailed Godwits - various areas
8 Pintail's - on the reservoir
4 Shoveler - on the reservoir
7 Shelduck - on the reservoir
7 Little Egret - various
3 Little Grebe - on the Lagoon
7 Greenshank - on the reservoir
4 Whimbrel - on the trail
Lots of Golden Plover and Dunlin on the sands possible 1000+ of each
plus usual other birds

Thanks
Mark

20 yards off shore I ment, still a good 100 yds from where we were stood at cut end hide. Very good views and better than I expected was what I was trying to say. All the reports I read said it was well off the shore and way out at sea.

Thanks Mark

Hoping to get to see the King Eider this Thursday, on the morning high tide. Can anyone confirm that this is around 09.00? Any suggestions for the first port of call – Freiston Shore or Cut End? Haven't visited either place before so any ideas welcome.

Thanks

Geoff

Re your request for tide times, on Friday my table says about 10 am and it is only a 6.4 m. tide.
If the King Eider is at the river mouth, it is a very good long walk to cut end from Frieston
