On way to Scunthorpe early evening, large gathering of Greylags on fields to left on South Ferriby-Appleby road, one white goose amongst them. Could be the Barton Ross's goose that was around earlier in the year? Couldnt get positive ID as just passing amongst lots of traffic, no bins at hand and we were running late!

Also on wet meadow near the bird hide at South Ferriby - one Little Egret and c10 House Martin.

Returning from Scunthorpe late evening - 1 Barn Owl at Appleby

There are now up to 6 white Greylags in the Humber flock after another successful breeding season; the flocks tend to congregate around Whitton and Alkborough but as harvest progresses they are spreading inland to feed on stubbles returning to the estuary to roost in the eveings; the Ross's Goose is still around though and I had it on Whitton Sand last week with the Greylags and 300 Barnacles plus 2 Ruddy Shelduck
