We visited Saltfleet Haven today so that the Grandchildren could do some kite flying and
whilst there a large falcon was observed on the mud just north of the haven. It appeared to be a 'Saker-type hybrid' with a pale head and was fitted with leg straps so an obvious escapee. When it took off and flew towards the haven it was joined by a ringtail Montagu's Harrier and there was a bit of interaction between them before they separated. The Monty's then flew toward us and was almost opposite at a range of about 100 yards when it turned and headed over the saltmarsh in the Rimac direction where Linda saw it drop down and land. I alerted Geoff Williams and he later checked from Rimac but did not see it.

Roy.

The 'Saker-type hybrid' was at Donna Nook on the 12th August.

Is this presumption based on the late spring sightings or unknown facts? Steve Lorand's last report from Donna was on May 24th
