On Sunday [2nd] had loads of hirundines over and around, could be the flying ants maybe not. Monday had good views of the resident Sprawk along with the hirundines again. On Wednesday the flying ants in my garden took flight with the Common Gulls having a feast. Thursday had 16 House Sparrows in the conifer at end of garden along with two juv Blackies, two juv Collared Doves. Friday morning had a adult Coal Tit and two juv Greenfinch on two of the feeders in front garden, while at the back had four juv Great Tits on the bird table and on the dead pear tree, with the young Blackies gorging themselves on the Rowan berries, meanwhile the neighbourhood moggy was oblivious as it was sleeping under the Weigela. Saturday while having an hour sat in back garden heard the resident Jackdaws coming, then saw them. Usually we get about a dozen come over so I was gobsmacked to see loads of them, I counted them and thought there was 57, but when they came back about ten minutes later they were very high and this time the count was spot-on and it was 64 they were going west, never seen that amount before. Also saw the hirudines circling above.

What with the record amount of Butterflies coming and a few moths new to me, this past week has been as good as getting out in the field, which I haven't been able to for three weeks.

It's surprising what we can find on our own doorstep!

Kind regards

John
