went outside to lock up the gate at 23.30hrs etc and could hear calling waders passing sounded like a small migration movement. cleethorpes morning tide just about every winter visitor was present on the foreshore including some cracking grey plover in summer plumage also 2 curlew sands wheatear
grainthorpe early afternoon 3 flocks lapwing 400 birds total lots of whimbrel calling, seemed to be all over but i could only find 2 birds in the outfall and 2 more on the saltmarsh finally after 20 frustrating minutes they were straight up overhead just circling and calling. grey birds against a grey sky and very very high, counted eventually 35 birds but there must have been more and they never landed finally going inland south of covenham at 14.40hrs ish also present greenshank 2 common sands 300 golden plover linnets goldfinch at least 20 yellow wags 2 wheatear 3 kestrel me thinks i have seen around 17 or 18 species of wader today some in very nice plumage.
