My first visit to this area. I was a little suprised by the amount of water. Perhaps its down to the barbecue summer or perhaps it is normal. No one there to ask so i don't know

I beleive the levels were kept high to protect the fish stocks, but this has impacted on the site's ability to attract waders. However just across at Levee Doors the levels are much better and this afternoon there were 12 Green Sandpipers present.

After getting a call from Andy Sims, called in at Fiskerton Fen later and the Reported Whiskered Tern was still present and showed quite well.

Thanks for the call Andy.

After leaving Levee Doors (where did that name come from I wonder) I took a futile trip up to Covenham, Just one Green and one Common Sandpiper and a very distant Tern of note and to think I toyed with the idea of a quick visit to Fiskerton Fen on my way home but the lure of the Test Match and the Aussies struggling proved stronger
