First visit to this LWT reserve this afternoon took some finding! Even had to ring one of the admin team for it's excat location and even they couldn't tell me exactly how to get there, so set the Tom Tom and bingo was there in a jiffy. What a cracking view over the Wolds! The couple I mentioned in another post told us they had been Buzzard watching, we didn't see any but I spotted an Hobby over my head, best view I've had for a long time, it was followed by two Kestrel and two pairs of Yellowhammer and a few Hirundines. Although not many birds we went for the Butterflies and was not disappointed. Also visited two more sites for the first time Southrey and Fiskerton. Regards Max |

Much work has been put in on this site by volunteers and the volunteer warden, Harry Turner who has a passion for butterflies, hence the efforts to get a wild flower meadow started on the eastern side of the road. The position of the reserve is on most O.S. Maps But Grid Ref. is 265 806 Pleased you enjoyed it, Regards Mike Surr |
