One Turtle Dove on wires close to the Fiskerton Fen Hide early afternoon today (Sat). Also :
Common Tern fishing in the River Witham with the Red Arrows performing more or less 'silently' at the Waddington Airshow in the distance as a dramatic backdrop.
I went on to the nearby "Tyrwhitt Arms" for refreshments, being joined in my feeding frenzy in the garden on the banks of the River Witham by -
Pied Wagtail family
ad. Yellow Wagtail
with Swallows and House Martins feeding young in their nests under the roadbridge there.......a very peaceful setting - for all of 10 minutes: the rustic/bucolic became the alcoholic with the (inevitable) arrival of a group of homo non-sapiens britannicus, lobster-pinkus, potbellicus, tattoodicus and shirtlus plus the females of the species (gigantica), accompanied by kiddiwinki plurali shriekii.
Exeunt - Pied Wagtails
Exit - Yellow Wagtail
Exit - Yours truly.

Regards,

Freddy
(Ah! well..... I did have 10 minutes).

Is this schadenfreude or hominis est errare? Or simply,Streptopelia turtur. Whatever, most amusing, Freddy.

Richard,
Making such comments ( and in French, too ) and
Terry,
Putting such chatty questions on the 'Lincs Bird Reports' website is remiss of you both!
Go to the back of the class.
(Thread continued on' Lincs Bird Chat').....in due course.

Regards,

Freddy
