We arrived at Manby Flashes at 3.30pm today (Wed). Fortunately, the tractor had finished its work near the Flashes and the bird count had improved :

Wood Sandpiper - 5
Green Sandpiper - 9
Ruff
Greenshank
Little Ringed Plover
Oystercatcher
Grey Heron - none: some local birders told us that they usually flight in from c. 6.00pm or so.

NOTE: Manby Flashes is not the easiest site to find. We had to ask directions from 2 or 3 local residents. One woman at first misheard 'Manby Flashers' and looked quite ill at ease. Actually, none of them had ever heard of 'Manby Flashes' - "I've lived here all my life but......" In the end we hopefully offered 'Water Pumping Station'. So, go down ever narrowing Church Lane in the centre of Manby , fork/bear right twice, pass the Anglian Water Treatment Plant on your left and arrive at a dead-end below a sign "Frank's Meadow". You have arrived.

Regards,

Freddy (with son Alex)
