REPORTED - Snowy Owl (good description, including "black spotting" given). It was seen alongside the road that runs north of Sutton St. Edmunds (Lincs), and was only just north of the village. Interestingly, this is the fourth time it has been seen it since January this year! Probably an escaped bird, but could be worth checking out - there was an influx into NW Europe during the winter, and the fenland landscape here might tempt a wild bird to stay?

That puts it right next to the A17 doesn't it?

Do I detect a hint of cynicism there Paul?

Sutton St Edmund is c9 miles S of the A17, being about half-way between the A17 and the A47, W of the A1101 and some 6 miles W/NW of Wisbech: Map Ref TF 3613.

No cynacism (yet  ), but just a confusing array of possible Sutton St Edmunds on Google Earth. I clearly chose the wrong one!

Maybe this is the bird that was reported at Donna Nook a few weeks ago! It was very elusive and local birders could only find Barn Owls oddly enough. No cynicism here either

all the Edmund references simply suggest some Baldrick involvement to those of us with a certain humour --
