Just had a report come through the office here of a Hawfinch ringed at Virkie, Shetland, on 23 October 2008, found dead in a Holbeach garden on 14 February. It had been dead a while though and was only found when the snow cleared underneath a bird table. Nice record though, and an interesting insight into where some of the counties wintering Hawfinches may be coming from (or via). Mark G BTO |
