Whilst monitoring bats and natterjacks, with Bill Meek, Nick Tribe, and Cliff Morrison at the Seaview area we were standing on the Great Eau bank in failing light when a squat heron flew past towards Skidbrooke, I commented that it looked like a night heron, Cliff replied thats just what i was thinking , it was seen in silhouette and its jizz ,cannot think of any other species it could have been,lots of large drains in the area and a fishing lake at south somercotes. cheers John |
