An early morning visit again to Kirkby Pits (0410 to 0610) prior to work I heard 3 Cuckoos, 1 Tawny Owl and 1 Lesser Whitethroat. Observed 2 Turtle Doves, 2 Little Ringed Plovers, 16 Common Terns, 1 Kingfisher, 1 drk Ruddy Duck, 3 Reed Warblers, 4 Garden Warblers, 2 Chiffchaffs, 3 Whitethroats, 2 Willow Warblers, 2 Blackcaps, 2 Barn Owls (hunting and resting on a fence together! One being a typical Barn Owl colour, however other was quite white.).

No Wood Sandpiper about though first thing, great find and a fine reserve record for this year already Russell!
