Anthony,
A BirdGuides report this morning (Fri) timed at 09.03, with the bird present at 08.53 :

"Black-winged Stilt....Frampton Marsh RSPB - still from Reedbed Hide".

Of course, 'good' birds can disappear overnight (especially on Fridays !) ....if not on Friday afternoon,, so perhaps your 'reserve' position (if there is no mention of the Stilt on the web this evening or on Saturday morning), and you can delay your departure time from Brigsley, might be to telephone Frampton Marsh RSPB tomorrow morning from c. 10.00am on :
01205 724678
...... perhaps to save you a wasted "twitching" journey, although the Reserve has plenty of birds to enjoy even if the Stilt has flown.

Good luck. :D

Freddy

Well I was always going to go if the bird was seen today regardless of how late in the day so thank you for that Freddy, Am also going for the other birds inc Plovers, Corn Bunting and Wagtails :) Look forward to reporting whatever I find with or without the Stilt.

Still present at 4.20pm Anthony, though typically flighty and active. Also male Goosander on the Reedbed today and a Turtle Dove in our office grounds/Farmyard. This is the last farmyard on your right before you get to the reserve if approaching from Frampton village. This spot is as regular as you get for Turtle Doves these days.

John

I tracked down the Black-winged Stilt this morning (Sat) to the flooded grassland towards the seabank. I enjoyed very good views of the bird from 9.00am along with Lincs birder, Alan Lea. The Stilt was showing well up to 09.30 about 60-70 yards out to the right from the small Car Park (going towards the sea); it then flew to a grassy island in front of 360 Hide. At c. 09.40 I was able to put RSPB officials Simon Wilson and Roy Maddison onto the bird from the Visitor Centre, from where it gave good 'scope views. ......by which time the rain had become quite persistent (despite the weather forecast). :(

Freddy
