Hi Paul,

There were Willow Warblers in the same bush, inches away and half the size! I've checked on BWPB and hundreds of other sources and one of the best ways to tell Icterine from Melodious is that the eye stripe goes further back. I am convinced the only possible confusion species is Melodious certainly not Willow Warblers! Give me some credit for more than 40 years experience in the field!

Other than the sporadic breeding records, I wonder if this would be the first multiple inland sighting ever in Britain...

Hi John,

To be honest I could not really claim both birds , although the odds are they are both the same, but of course one flew off before I could scope it. The other one might have been a Melodious Warbler!!
