No sign of yesterday's Spotted Crake (seen by Dean Nicholson briefly in front of hide at 14:00) but at least 2 Water Rails with 1 young.

I cleared some of the vegetation in front of the hide to enable the area to be seen better but despite spending yesterday evening till 21:00 and this morning from 06:00 no sign.

1 Spotted Flycatcher in hedge just north of Catchwater bridge, also Blackcap, Whitethroat & singing Willow Warbler in same area.

Many thanks for the telecall this morning, Andy. I was on site from 10.15am. The Spotfly had worked its way down the hedge c.200 yards and was performing well. A flash of red caught my eye : an immature Redstart appeared. Also :

Yellowhammer
Whitethroat
Willow Warbler
Goldfinch
Swallow (perched on bush).
