Location: Gibraltar Point, Sykes Farm
November BTO Winter Thrush Survey
Bratoft Area 13/11/12

Habitat:
Cropped Farmland
Pastoral Farmland
With nice thick hedgerows of Blackthorn and Hawthorn covered in berries

Thrushes:
Blackbird 61
Song Thrush 1
Mistle Thrush 6
Fieldfare 2
Redwing 6

Other bits:
Common Buzzard 2
Kestrel 1
Pink-footed Goose 200 (South-east)
Bullfinch 9
Great Spotted Woodpecker 2
Woodcock 1
Lesser Redpoll 19
Stock Dove 6
Red-legged Partridge 12
Snipe 2
Jay 1

Birds of Conservation Concern (BoCC) Red-listed:
Tree Sparrow 3
Yellowhammer 11
Skylark 13
Linnet 6

It's interesting to compare the numbers of Blackbirds and Fieldfares with Andrews (Above). This indicates that the majority of Fieldfares move inland at the beginning of the winter, spreading to the coast later on in the winter as the berry crop inland fails.
It will be interesting to see if the numbers of Fieldfares increase in late winter to see if this theory is true!

Cheers,

Richard
