Better conditions for actually watching birds at the south end today. Some visible passage to the south included 51 Linnets, 65 Starlings and 295 Swallows. Also 132 Starlings north. Migrants seen were 15 Robins, 20 Goldcrests, 10 Song Thrushes, 4 Blackbirds, 9 Chiffchaffs, Willow Warbler, Sedge Warbler, 5 Common Redstarts and Whinchat. Some of the regular species were in improved numbers with more tits and Wrens in evidence and 30+ Dunnocks and 120 Skylarks. Other noteworthy species on the dunes were Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Water Rails, 2 Sparrowhawks, 3 Kestrels and 13 Greenfinches. On the coastal fields were 265 Golden Plovers, 35 Curlews and an adult Mediterranean Gull. Sea much quieter than of late. At least 400 Common Scoters from the south landed offshore.
