Riseholme lake
Friday 6th Jan 8.30am
13 Goosander on the lake this morning - 8 male 5 female
also around 100 BH Gull with some developing darker heads for summer.

Now 16 Goosander on the lake at 3.30pm

Numbers have built up nicely, Ian. : :) :

16 December - 6.. all female (IB)
17 December - none..lake iced-up (FJ)
01 January - 5..3dr 2fm (Terry and Eileen Corlett)
02 January - 5..3dr 2fm (FJ)
06 January am - 13..8dr 5fm (IB)
06 January pm - 16.. (IB).

Let's hope they stay around over the weekend. :D

I visited Riseholme Lake late morning today (Sat) and there were 16 Goosanders in the eastern half :

12 drakes and 4 females.

It's interesting how these Riseholme Goosander groups can vary from morning to afternoon let alone from day to day. Yesterday (Sat) I had 16 in the morning, Terry and Eileen Corlett had 16+ in the afternoon and today they had just one drake. What numbers will next week bring ?
