A quick look around alkborough at high tide produced a couple of greenshanks and a wood sandpiper along with 2 ruddy shelducks. Before this I was at Bonby carrs looking for the crane unsuccessfully but at 981142 on fence posts and in hawthorns and a nearby oak tree was a bird i couldnt make my mind up about. Nearest i could get it to was a female redstart but I thought it had too much red on its breast. Constantly flicking its tail and flitting from post to weeds andback. Also looked plumper than a redstart! Grey /brown back and head with paler stripe over the eye. Russet tail as in redstart, and no black and white on tail............ so not a RB flycatcher ( I wish). Anybody else seen this bird who can put me put of my misery!
