An evening visit to Temple Wood to look for Woodcock and Nightingales was unsuccessful on both counts, but I was most surprised to hear a Grasshopper Warbler reeling from the middle of the wood, (Ash canopy and bramble understorey). Another was reeling just outside the wood from a more conventional fieldside ditch.
It looks like it could be another good Summer for Groppers but how many will be confirmed as breeding in Lincs?

I was surprised this morning (Wednesday 20th) to have a Grasshopper Warbler reeling from a roadside hedge on the Bluestone Heath Rd near Cadwell Park, competing with the motorbike practice. It will be interesting to see if it continues to hold territory or whether its a migrant. Its not a habitat or an altitude in Lincs that I've found one before.

In East Lincs we have Gropper in 6 out of 19 10k squares so far but confirmed in only 1.
