Found a beautiful out of the way valley near Ulceby with 3 singing Corn Buntings, 10 Meadow Pipits and a couple of displaying Lapwings, all birds that need confirming breeding in TF47. Had a chat with a farmer at this spot who told me he had had a pair of Grey Partridges with chicks in his garden in July 2009, thats enough for confirmed breeding, its always worth talking to farmers.

He also said that on their shoots its a £50 fine for shooting a Grey Partridge which is good to hear. Anyone know if this is general practice?

On to Hoplands Wood where I had a singing Nuthatch which is new for the square. Can't seem to find a Green Woodpecker or Jay though. Anyone else had these around Alford? Also 3 separate pairs of Buzzards in the air together to the North of the wood.

I then had a quick drive up the coast from Chapel Pit to Huttoft Pit and picked up a Swallow and Sand Martin. Huttoft Pit had a pair of Shoveller c 30 Widgeon and 6 Teal plus 2 Pinkfeet on the water. Also 1 Redshank. I was there when I got the call about the WT Eagle "heading for Donna Nook". I dashed up to Rimac and spent 30 mins on top a dune scanning to no avail. If it ended up in Norfolk it probably flew over my head when I was driving up there. Never mind its been a grand day.

Rigsby Wood is usually good for Green Woodpeckers.
I haven't been yet this year though.
